Your Stockholm Chaise garden furniture set is designed for long-lasting outdoor living  and with the right care routine, it can stay in excellent condition for many years. This guide covers everything you need to know about maintaining both the polyrattan frame and your olefin cushions.

Wintering your furniture

Polyrattan is robust enough to stay outdoors throughout the year, but we recommend storing your Stockholm Chaise set indoors during winter wherever possible. A shed or outbuilding provides the best shelter from harsh weather and will help your furniture last as long as possible.

If bringing the set inside isn't an option, a breathable furniture cover is the next best solution. It's also worth moving the furniture every few months to clean the ground underneath and prevent any build-up of dirt or moisture beneath the legs.

Always store your cushions indoors during winter or periods of severe weather — even if the frame itself stays outside. A furniture cover or storage box offers some protection, but for the best results cushions should come inside.

Cleaning the rattan frame

Cleaning your Stockholm Chaise frame is quick and easy. Just follow these steps:

1. Remove all cushions before you start cleaning.
2. Fill a bucket with lukewarm, soapy water and use a soft sponge or cloth to gently wipe down the entire rattan frame.
3. Rinse thoroughly with cold water to remove any soap residue, then leave to air dry.

Do not use a pressure washer on polyrattan as the high pressure can damage the material. Abrasive or chemical cleaning products should also be avoided unless recommended by a professional.

Caring for your cushions

The Stockholm Chaise cushions are made from olefin — a hardwearing, weather-resistant fabric that's straightforward to keep clean.

Day-to-day maintenance

For routine upkeep, brush off any loose dirt and debris with a soft-bristled brush, or use a vacuum cleaner on a gentle setting to keep the fabric fresh between deeper cleans.

Dealing with spills

Blot the affected area as soon as possible with a clean cloth or sponge dampened with mild soapy water. Avoid scrubbing, as this risks spreading the stain. Once treated, rinse well with clean water and allow to air dry fully.

Deep cleaning

When your cushions need a more thorough clean, apply warm soapy water with a sponge or soft brush and work it gently into the fabric. Rinse well with clean water to eliminate any soap residue, then leave to dry completely in the open air before use.

We recommend handwashing olefin cushions in a bowl of warm, soapy water, followed by a rinse in plain water. Machine washing is possible on a very gentle cycle, but is done at your own discretion. MINT cannot accept responsibility for any shrinkage or distortion caused by machine washing.
